Lokadot Launches Free iPhone App for Philadelphians and 'Old City' Tourists for 4th of July Weekend
PHILADELPHIA, June 30, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Lokadot LLC, creators of the world's first interactive location-based audio platform for mobile phones, announced today the launch of Philadelphia "Old City" audio content on July 1st, 2011 to coincide with the upcoming 4th of July weekend.
According to Lokadot founder and CEO Cliff Stevens, "We're launching our pilot with over 150 audio clips published by Lokadot's content partners describing various historic and cultural landmarks in 'Old City' Philadelphia. Visitors can hear the audio on their iPhone anytime they approach each location."
Ranked as one of the top 10 "Best Family Vacations in the USA" and "Most Walkable Cities," Philadelphia is the ideal location to launch the Lokadot app and Philadelphia historic audio content. Visitors can download Lokadot to their iPhone for free from Apple's App Store. Within moments, visitors will hear a proactive audio tour, with nearby points of interest explained as they approach them.
One of the keys to Lokadot's breakthrough location-based audio-streaming technology is its optional ability to integrate seamlessly with the user's existing iTunes music that is playing on their iPhone. Whenever a user gets near a point of interest, their music fades down and pauses while the Lokadot "point of interest" audio clip plays from the Web. When the Lokadot audio finishes, the user's original music continues.
"As someone who loves to explore new places, I often found myself walking by buildings or statues and wondering, 'What is that? What's the story?' Looking things up on my phone's browser was a hassle and I always wished there was a way for the whole process to be much more seamless," explained Stevens. "So I put a team together and we built what we - and many others - have been wanting for a long time."
Visitors to Old City Philadelphia will see the Lokadot "cobblestone street team" out spreading the word over the July 4th holiday weekend.
