CHAPEL HILL, N.C., Feb. 5 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Institute for Defense and Business (IDB) welcomes its sixth class of Log21 participants on February 14th and is excited to have IDB's own Ambassador David Litt (Ret.) as a featured speaker. Amb. Litt, the former Ambassador to the United Arab Emirates, served for 34 years as a career U.S. diplomat, specializing in the Middle East and Southwest Asia. He also served as the Political Advisor to the commanders of both U.S. Central Command and U.S. Special Operations Command. Amb. Litt will address the logistical challenges of post-crisis and stabilization operations at the Paul J. Rizzo Conference Center at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

"The complexity of the Haiti earthquake relief operation has underscored how critical it is to collaborate effectively across organizations in a fast-moving, dynamic environment. Because of the myriad of cultures that are involved in crisis response, collaboration in logistics should take place on a regular basis before the crisis occurs," remarked Amb. Litt.
Log21: Logistics for the 21st Century is a week-long executive education program designed for up to 35 high-potential logisticians from industry, the military, and the Department of Defense (DoD). Participant profiles include: private sector personnel three to eight years into their careers; O-2 to O-4 military participants; and GS-12 to GS-13 for government employees.
"Log21 was created for early-career logisticians to give them broader exposure to the world of defense logistics. Participants leave with a larger network of both military and industry connections, as well as a greater understanding of such topics as performance based logistics, contract negotiations, the DoD budget process, life cycle design, and sustainable logistics," noted Bill Buzzi, Program Director, Log21.
Registrants in past courses have represented: Agility Defense & Government Services, Inc.; BAE Systems, Inc.; The Boeing Company; Lockheed Martin Corporation; Robbins-Gioia, LLC; Logistics Management Institute (LMI); Defense Logistics Agency (DLA); U.S. Army; U.S. Air Force; U.S. Coast Guard; U.S. Marine Corps, and the U.S. Navy.
