Livio Shifts to Car Internet Radio
Updated app redefines in-vehicle Internet radio experience through iPhone
FERNDALE, Mich., Feb. 2, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Livio Radio, creators of breakthrough Internet radio devices and accessories, has shifted its focus to improving the in-vehicle audio experience for iPhone users.
The updated Livio Radio App, previewed last month at the 2011 International Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, sets the stage for users wishing to access Internet audio streams through any vehicle's stereo via a refined software interface installed on a compatible mobile device.
"After over a year in development and thousands of man hours, this version of the app is finally ready for mass consumption," Livio Radio founder and CEO Jake Sigal said.
Livio Radio's trademark app for the iPhone – a version will also arrive soon for Android – offers refined user features and stability, song "tagging" capability, and improved proprietary in-vehicle audio playback technology. The phone-based Livio Radio App also features a sleep timer, and is compatible with iPad devices for use outside of the vehicle.
"Automotive OEMs and integrators were impressed and eager to sign up at CES, as Livio's car accessory API works with just about any automotive system though standard communication protocols," said Tom Denton, Livio Radio's director of software engineering.
The refined app was previewed in Las Vegas last month with vehicle OEM and aftermarket manufacturers. The app is powered by a new back-end engine and will offer a direct car connection in its next major release.
With content partnerships currently in development, including the recently-announced partnership with Grooveshark, Sigal said the Livio Radio App would offer an attractive, inexpensive alternative to satellite radio when it ships this summer.
"Car Internet radio is what's happening in 2011, and Livio Radio is going to be the company that gives consumers an alternative to satellite with more music and less work," said Sigal.
