LittleMissMatched Launches Project Sock: Season 2 Design Competition
NEW YORK, March 4 /PRNewswire/ -- LittleMissMatched, the ground-breaking company that revolutionized the world one sock at a time, announces the launch of the Project Sock: Season 2 sock design competition where the winning designs will become part of an upcoming LittleMissMatched collection. Following the success of last year's inaugural contest, Project Sock: Season 2 is destined to be bigger, bolder and elicit an even more talented pool of designers.
The contest presents a one of a kind opportunity for fans and imaginative minds of all ages to get creative and reveal their "socktastic" artistic abilities by designing a 3-pack of socks to become part of a 2010 LittleMissMatched collection.
"LittleMissMatched fans are incredibly inventive and we're always thrilled to invite them to become part of the design process. Last year's Project Sock contest was exceptionally successful with the winning designs becoming some of our best selling packs across the company in 2009 so we're anxious to see what's to come this year," says Jonah Staw, LittleMissMatched co-founder and CEO.
Just as the competition will be fiercer this year, the prizes will follow suit and be even more enticing for the second season. A panel of LittleMissMatched judges will select the top 24 sock savvy designs, which will then be uploaded to the online voting gallery for enthusiasts, contestants and critics alike to bid for their favorite submission. Not only will the victorious entry become part of an upcoming collection sold to the public but the fan favorite winner will also receive a $1,000 cash prize as well as 10 packs of socks of their design. However, the loot doesn't stop there. An additional five entries will be selected by LittleMissMatched to become part of the same collection for sale to the public and each of these five designers will receive a $250 cash prize and 10 packs of their winning designs.
Innovative minds of all ages are encouraged to enter the competition – no matter the degree of background design experience. For a company founded on breaking the rules, contestants are awarded free reign with just a few restrictions. The forefront and underlying rule of the competition is that contestants will design a pack of 3 socks – not a pair – that cannot match. However, the interpretation of non-matching socks rests with the designer - the socks can coordinate or, on the other end of the spectrum, be a pack of wildly non-related socks. Once contestants enter the competition, they will download a sock template, which they may design by hand or by using their favorite design program.
Submissions for Project Sock: Season 2 will be accepted beginning today until 6 pm EDT on April 15th and voting will take place from April 29th to May 13th. For more information or to enter LittleMissMatched's Project Sock, please visit www.projectsock.com.
