Little Bahalia Releases Two New Picture Books!
"Teeny Tiny Trucks" -- New Children's Picture Book by Tim McCanna and illustrated by Keith Frawley
"A Troop is a Group of Monkeys" -- New Children's Picture Book by Julie Hedlund and illustrated by Pamela Baron
MILWAUKEE, Oct. 15, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Little Bahalia Publishing LLC is proud to announce the release of two new picture books in its Fall lineup: Teeny Tiny Trucks and A Troop is a Group of Monkeys.
The first book, Teeny Tiny Trucks, written by Tim McCanna and illustrated by Keith Frawley, is a debut for McCanna, best known for his children's music. Indeed, the story of "Teeny Tiny Trucks" began as a catchy, trucker-themed song for kids. Little Bahalia will be making both the song and its sheet music available on its website, so parents and music teachers alike can take advantage of the opportunity to incorporate music into the experience of the story.
Teeny Tiny Trucks, like most of Little Bahalia's publications, will also be available as an animated iPad book app in October on the iTunes store.
Illustrator Keith Frawley has created fresh, contemporary illustrations for the book, using a style similar to his digital paintings for Dreamworks' "Turbo" storybook, which he illustrated earlier in 2013. Says Frawley, "I really enjoyed doing this book. I even made a girl truck, a purple one with long eyelashes, because as a father of girls I knew that would be a nice touch."
A Troop is a Group of Monkeys by Julie Hedlund and illustrated by Pamela Baron is the much-anticipated hardcover version of the popular children's iPad app of the same title. Little Bahalia released two apps in 2013 from this series: Troop and its sequel, A Shiver of Sharks, which featured ocean animals in a similar format. The Troop app was named one of the "Top 50 Kids' Apps of 2013" by The Guardian earlier this year, and has enjoyed critical success. "I am so delighted that it's coming out in hardcover as well," says Hedlund. "This is a book that teaches vocabulary, so it's ideal that children are able to experience it in different ways."
Both books are available in wide release as of October 15, 2013.
About the publisher: Little Bahalia publishes children's literary fiction and nonfiction in a variety of media formats, with a focus on iPad apps. From the publisher: "We believe tablet computers open up wonderful possibilities for experiencing stories. Our goal is to bring stories to life using animation and sound in exciting new ways. Our intent at Little Bahalia is to keep pushing the boundaries of storytelling as new technologies emerge and to offer exciting new opportunities for authors and artists."
