Listen: Life with Classical Music Named Top 10 Magazine of 2009

BRYN MAWR, Pa., May 25 /PRNewswire/ -- ArkivMusic, The Source for Classical Music today announced its magazine, Listen: Life with Classical Music, was named one of the Top 10 Best magazines of 2009 by Library Journal (http://www.libraryjournal.com/article/CA6726942.html).

Library Journal calls Listen "a classy, tastefully designed... magazine about musicians, recordings, performances, and trends in serious music... Listen's sophisticated yet accessible writing style is a perfect match for readers who appreciate music..."

Depending on the source, somewhere between 70 and 320 magazines ceased publication in 2009 and still more opted for online-only distribution.

"Launching a print magazine last year may have seemed counterintuitive but we believed the classical music market was underserved and that a quality publication would do well," says Listen's Publisher, Eric Feidner, who also notes the magazine is now turning a profit in 2010 with a rapidly growing subscriber base and strong ad sales growth.

Earlier this year, Listen: Life with Classical Music also received a Merit Award from the Society of Publication Designers for Feature Illustration, a competition dominated by The New York Times Magazine, WIRED, W, New York, and GQ.
