Lionbridge Provides Website Translation for Special Olympics Europe/Eurasia
Lionbridge Website Translation Services to Expand Global Reach of World-Renowned Non-Profit Movement
WALTHAM, Mass. and DUBLIN, March 11, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Lionbridge Technologies, Inc. (Nasdaq: LIOX), a leading provider of translation, development and testing solutions, today announced a two-year partnership with Special Olympics Europe/Eurasia. With this partnership, Lionbridge will donate translation services for the Special Olympics Europe/Eurasia website. This will increase the effectiveness of 58 national programs by ensuring all content on the Special Olympics website is available in multiple languages, including Russian, French, German, Polish, Turkish, Spanish and Portuguese.
"This is a very exciting partnership for Special Olympics and we are extremely thankful to Lionbridge for their generous contribution," said Mary Davis, Regional President and Managing Director of Special Olympics Europe/Eurasia. "A multilingual site will help us shine a brighter spotlight on the importance of understanding, acceptance and inclusion of all people with intellectual disabilities. Our mission is to provide year round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for children and adults with intellectual disabilities, giving them continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy and participate in a sharing of gifts, skills and friendship with their families, other Special Olympics athletes and the community. It is a great honor for Special Olympics that Lionbridge are now helping us reach our goal by providing their expertise and services," added Mary Davis.
The Lionbridge program includes a combination of services and technology. To increase the effectiveness of the translation process, Lionbridge will use Translation Workspace™, its cloud-based translation memory platform. The system's unique, on-demand architecture enables the simultaneous use of multiple translation memories on a single project and facilitates real-time collaboration among all project participants. As a result, the Special Olympics gains a high quality, multilingual communication site that can relay vital information to athletes, families, coaches, volunteers and partners around the world.
"We are delighted to donate both our professional services and language solutions to such a prestigious and inspirational movement," said Paula Shannon, Chief Sales Officer and Senior Vice President, Lionbridge. "Special Olympics Europe/Eurasia has done a remarkable job raising public awareness of the talents and needs of adults and children with intellectual disabilities. We look forward to being an integral part of such a focused and worthwhile goal and to help the movement and their athletes communicate more effectively."
