VIRGINIA BEACH, Va., March 1, 2016 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- LifeNet Health and Arthrex Inc. have signed a new long-term agreement that strengthens the partnership between the world's leading provider of allograft implants and a premier innovator of orthopedic surgical solutions.
The multi-year commitment ensures that surgeons will have ready access to clinically effective grafts and advanced instrumentation for the benefit of their patients.
"Together, Arthrex and LifeNet Health have pioneered surgical innovations that offer hope of enhanced function or mobility to patients around the world," said Daniel Osborne, Vice President of Global Marketing for LifeNet Health. "This agreement is a natural evolution in that collaboration, and it is an extension of our common goal – giving patients the best chance for positive outcomes."
During more than 10 years of collaboration, the LifeNet Health and Arthrex partnership has led to the development of paradigm-changing procedures like superior capsular reconstruction (SCR), a technique that makes repair an option for what previously were considered irreparable massive rotator cuff tears. This technique — which has benefitted more than 2,000 patients since it was first performed in late 2014 — combines the ArthroFlex acellular dermal matrix (ADM) developed by LifeNet Health with Arthrex's state-of-the-art surgical instruments and techniques to offer patients an alternative to shoulder arthroplasty. Building on that success, the two companies plan to explore new applications, such as opportunities in the field of cartilage repair.
LifeNet Health and Arthrex also will host a medical education event March 2 in Orlando, Fla. — coinciding with one of the world's largest sports medicine annual meetings — at which Dr. Gregory Gilot and Dr. Joshua Dines will discuss arthroscopic rotator cuff repair utilizing Arthroflex.
