LHP Software Engineer Wins InterRegs Standards & Regulations Award
FAREHAM, United Kingdom, March 16, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Mark Stepper of LHP Software in Columbus, Indiana has received the 2015 Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) InterRegs Standards & Regulations Award in recognition of his research in the development of industry standards and for his participation in On Board Diagnostics (OBD) and Service Information Regulation (SIR) rule making.
UK-based InterRegs has been promoting vehicle safety for a number of years through its award. The award recognizes engineers in the automotive industry who have provided significant contributions to vehicle standards, regulations or conformity assessment systems for improved safety or reduced emissions. This 2015 award winner was announced at this year's SAE Government/Industry Meeting in Washington, D.C.

Stepper is employed by LHP Software as a technical advisor. Prior to joining LHP Software, he worked at Cummins Inc. Since 1982, he has participated in the development of industry SAE, ISO and ATA standards related to communications, sensors, diesel-engine controls, powertrain controls, control-module programming and diagnostics. Stepper has been actively involved in OBD and SIR rule-making as it relates to diesel engines in the US, EU and United Nations member countries since 1992.
Stepper holds a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from the University of Cincinnati. His work in the field of diesel engine control and diagnostics has been recognized with 12 patents. In 2014 he received the 2014 James M. Crawford Technical Standards Board Outstanding Achievement Award from the Society of Automotive Engineers.
