TORRANCE, Calif., Nov. 13, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Leading home appliance manufacturer LG Electronics is hosting a bake-off event this weekend benefiting local schools, as well as charitable partner No Kid Hungry®. Held outside of Pacific Sales Kitchen, Bath & Electronics in Torrance on Saturday at 10 a.m., the "For the Love of Baking" event promises hands-on, professionally led product demonstrations and a friendly, interactive cookie-baking competition to celebrate the launch of LG's new ranges with ProBake Convection™ technology, a groundbreaking innovation that helps consumers bake like professionals in their own kitchens.
Open to the public, the bake-off event will feature contestants from Torrance's Edison, Victory and Hickory elementary schools, all flexing their baking muscle using LG's new 7.3-cubic-foot double oven electric range (Model LDE4413ST) in a challenge to create the tastiest cookie. The competition will be judged by both the public and a panel of four judges, with the ultimate winner being crowned on-site.
In addition to the LG "For the Love of Baking" victor winning $5,000 for his or her school, LG will also donate $5,000 on the winner's behalf to No Kid Hungry, a campaign of anti-hunger organization, Share Our Strength that connects children in need with nutritious food and empowers families across the country to cook healthy, affordable meals together.
Attendees from all three schools and guests of all ages at the LG "For the Love of Baking" event will experience first-hand the benefits of LG's newest ranges with ProBake Convection technology, which incorporates professional convection technology to deliver perfect baking on every rack, every time.* Attendees also will be able to experience the innovative technology of LG's ProBake Convection Ranges, in which the heating element has been moved from the bottom of the oven to the back wall to achieve optimal heating distribution and consistent browning on the top and bottom of every dish, perfect for those on-site cookies.
"In addition to creating innovative, industry-leading appliances that enable consumers to make meals for their entire family, we at LG are delighted to work with Pacific Sales to give back to the local community," said David VanderWaal, vice president of marketing for LG Electronics USA. "This bake-off event is the perfect marriage of cooking and community, and we're proud to partner with the local schools of Torrance and No Kid Hungry to bring 'For the Love of Baking' to life in a big way."
Supporting No Kid Hungry, LG will continue to give back to the community by encouraging "For the Love of Baking" guests to host their own "ProBake sales" in their communities using kits provided to event attendees. Since the campaign's launch, No Kid Hungry and its partners have connected kids struggling with hunger with more than 345 million additional meals.
Pacific Sales Kitchen, Bath & Electronics is located at 24120 Garnier Street in Torrance; the LG "For the Love of Baking" event kicks-off at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 14.
