FOUNDER AND PRESIDENT
Born in Fort Wayne, Indiana Leslie Harris has always been passionate about health and wellness. That passion propelled her into the medical field as a Registered Nurse. Leslie has worked in Cardio Vascular Intensive Care for the majority of her Nursing career. Her passion for positive reinforcement in women inspired her to create this network of Women on the Move. She is working on opening various chapters across the United States, and eventually the world, to help support women in their many interests and passions. The organization now has members throughout The United States, as well as in other countries. The current member count is approximately 3,000.
Women On The Move assists women-owned small businesses, home-based businesses, and businesses that are still in the planning stages with whatever is needed. The website, www.mywomenonthemove.com, has a featured business section, which gives that business a lot of traffic, and publicity, without a cost. You see, being a member of Women On The Move is free. www.MyWomenOnTheMove.com is averaging over 120,000 hits per day. This group of diverse women also helps in a personal way. Through advice, encouragement, and positivity, The Group helps its members with personal issues as well. Women On The Move is in the process of offering health insurance under a group plan for it's members. As a Registered Nurse, healthcare is one of the most important things for Leslie Harris. She has seen the effects of pre-existing conditions on individuals trying to get health insurance on their own, for their families, or for their small business.
Charity fundraising is also an endeavor Women On The Move has undertaken. Its inaugural event, "Unveil Your Pink", is raising funds for The South Florida Affiliate of Susan G. Komen For The Cure. The event is taking place March 20th, 2010 in Boca Raton, Florida, at The Boca Resort & Club. It is being hosted by Lisa Wu Hartwell, of Bravo's Real Housewives Of Atlanta. The ticket count for the event has already topped 300, and the event will be honoring Rep. Debbie Wasserman-Schultz, as well as other breast cancer survivors. Mayors of WPB, Boca Raton, and Boynton Beach will be in attendance, as well as several County Commissioners.
The reception that Women On The Move has gotten shows that there was indeed a need for a network such as this.
