RESTON, Va., July 31, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Leidos (NYSE: LDOS), a national security, health and engineering solutions company, was awarded a prime contract by Ameren Illinois to implement business and residential energy efficiency programs for customers of the state's second largest utility. The single-award time and material (T&M) contract has a three-year period of performance and a total contract value of $55 million. The agreement covers work Leidos will perform to help business and residential customers save energy through Ameren Illinois's ActOnEnergy® portfolio of energy efficiency solutions.
Since 2008, Leidos has implemented a broad range of award-winning efficiency programs for Ameren Illinois's commercial and industrial customers. Innovative solutions introduced by Leidos include the creation of a program ally network of contractors who market and install energy efficient products and services and the development of incentive discount payment programs. These initiatives and others have enabled Ameren Illinois customers to save more than 2,800 gigawatt hours of electricity and more than 27 million therms of natural gas—enough power to serve more than 90,000 homes for an entire year.
Under the new contract, Leidos will add residential services to its business portfolio with special emphasis on providing rebates and incentives to assist Ameren Illinois's low and moderate income consumers.
"Leidos has enjoyed an excellent working relationship with Ameren Illinois over the last six years as demonstrated by more than $190 million in total energy savings," said James R. Moos, President of Leidos Engineering Solutions Group. "The new contract award from Ameren Illinois reinforces our belief that an integrated team of program experts is the right business model for long-term success, and we look forward to continuing this relationship for the next three years."
Leidos's team of energy efficiency experts, research analysts and marketing professionals are co-located with Ameren Illinois staff at the utility's Peoria, Ill., office.
"The agreement with Leidos is a win-win for Ameren Illinois and our customers," said Keith Martin, director of energy efficiency for Ameren Illinois. "They have deep expertise to provide a full range of solutions to help customers use less energy and save money. At the same time, we're able to meet our aggressive sustainability goals."
