LeClairRyan Adds Patent Prosecution Group to Sacramento Office
SACRAMENTO, Calif., Aug. 2, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- In a move that bolsters the global reach of its Intellectual Property practice, LeClairRyan has announced the addition of a patent prosecution group comprised of three attorneys and five professional staff to its Sacramento office, led by partners Charles Yang and John Yang.
Charles Yang and John Yang were most recently partners at FisherBroyles LLP. Both were previously with boutique IP firm Ntellect Law founded by Charles Yang.
Patricia Peden, LeClairRyan's Intellectual Property Department Leader, said the strategic addition of this group brings additional West Coast talent to an already deep bench. "We are excited to have Charles, John and their team join LeClairRyan," she said. "Having worked with them for years, we know the high caliber of services they can offer our clients. Their experience working with Chinese clients is a particularly important addition, as our firm continues to expand its global reach."
Charles Yang focuses his patent attorney practice on patent prosecution and related practices before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. Over the course of his decade-long career—which included positions with Baker & McKenzie in the U.S., Hong Kong and China—he has managed patent portfolios for a wide range of technologies, including optics, stereoscopic and holographic displays, semiconductor manufacturing, medical devices, telecommunication software, and consumer products. He is admitted in Texas and with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
John Yang focuses his practice on all aspects of intellectual property, primarily serving the chemical, electrical, mechanical and semiconductor industries. During his decade-long legal career that included positions at Greenberg Traurig and as Senior Director of Intellectual Property at a consumer products company, he has been providing business-oriented advice for developing, implementing and aligning intellectual property strategy with business objectives. Before joining the legal profession, he was an engineer in the semiconductor industry for nearly 10 years with Intel Corporation and TriQuint Semiconductor (now Qorvo). He is admitted in California and with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
