DULLES, Va., May 21, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Carpathia, a trusted cloud operator and leading provider of compliant cloud services and managed hosting, announced that the Duke Human Vaccine Institute (DHVI), a leader in the fight against major infectious diseases, has selected Carpathia to design, deploy, manage and back-up the expansion of its Federal Information Security Management Act (FISMA) compliant computing infrastructure.

For over two decades, the DHVI has been at the forefront of the battle against AIDS and the quest for HIV and other infectious disease vaccines. As part of its research mission, DHVI directs and manages External Quality Assurance (EQA) programs through its Immunology and Virology Quality Assessment Center (IVQAC). This center supports the development, implementation and oversight of external quality assurance programs that monitor laboratories involved in HIV/AIDS research and vaccine trials around the world. In addition, the center helps domestic and international immunologists evaluate and enhance the integrity and comparability of immunological laboratory determinations performed on patients enrolled in therapeutic, vaccine and prevention investigations. In order to support these efforts, DHVI needs to continue to comply with strict NIST, HIPAA and FISMA data protection and integrity standards.
