Leaders In Dermatology To Be Honored At The Orlando Dermatology Aesthetic and Clinical Conference

NEW YORK, Jan. 11, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- The JDD (Journal of Drugs in Dermatology) will honor dermatologists and companies with the JDD Leaders of Distinction Awards at the Orlando Dermatology Aesthetic and Clinical (ODAC) Conference in Orlando, Florida, January 15-18, 2016. The JDD Leaders of Distinction Awards recognizes dermatologists, residents, companies and/or organizations for their contributions to the field of dermatology.
Ron G. Wheeland, MD, will be recognized for Outstanding Leadership in Dermatology Education and Research. Dr. Wheeland's research has led to an improved understanding of how lasers interact with the skin and how best to use those devices. He has also performed numerous clinical research projects that have improved the care of patients with chronic wounds, various vascular conditions, skin cancer and excess hair.
Brett Coldiron, MD, will be honored for Outstanding Leadership in Promoting the Field of Dermatology. Dr. Coldiron is a past president of both the American College of Mohs Surgery and the American Academy of Dermatology. He has published more than 63 peer-reviewed articles and four book chapters.
Jill S. Waibel, MD, will be awarded the Humanitarian Award, which recognizes outstanding leaders within the field of dermatology who have gone above and beyond by donating their time and services to improve patient outcomes. Dr. Waibel is honored for her innovative work in using lasers to treat patients with traumatic burn injuries.
Robin Lewallen, MD, will be named Resident of the Year. Dr. Lew allen was voted her program's Resident Teacher of the Year for every year of her residency. She is co-editor of a book on contact dermatitis and is currently co-authoring a second book, Illustrated Clinical Cases: Dermatology. She volunteers at a free clinic and community health fairs, and serves on the resident quality improvement council.
JDD will also recognize the following companies at ODAC for their contributions to the field of dermatology. The Future of Dermatology Award will be presented to Genentech, and The Leader in Scientific Achievement Award will go to Allergan/KYTHERA® Biopharmaceuticals.
