Co-produced by Central California bloggers Jesse Luna and Jose Huitron, the Central California event hopes to tap groundswell of activity in the social media community in one of the most significant places in California Latino history.
"Jesse and Jose have a finger on the pulse of the new innovation that's coming out of this region as well as a deep appreciation and respect for innovation from generations past," said Giovanni Rodriguez, co-founder of Latino2 and vice chair of programs and events for LATISM.
Held at the San Luis Obispo Performing Arts Center – a state-of-the-art facility at the California Polytechnic State University, one of the state's leading educational institutions – the event also hopes to attract students from a broad range of studies – from communications, technology, business, and Latino studies.
"LATISM's mission is to educate all sectors of the diverse Latino market, and students comprise an increasingly important component of the market," said Luna and Huitron. "They're not only the future – they're also involved in some of the most important programs today. We're excited to reach out to students for this event."
