LARK Up awakens consumers without a jarring alarm and without disturbing the sleep of a loved one. LARK Up wakes one person silently and peacefully using the iPhone and an innovative mobile accessory, the LARK wristband, allowing consumers start their mornings right by providing a more natural and peaceful experience. As a result of experiencing wake up challenges in her own relationship, MIT student and LARK founder Julia Hu worked with a team of engineers and designers from Stanford and MIT and Harvard sleep expert, Dr. Jo Solet, to create LARK Up.
"Getting out of bed in the morning is never easy, but LARK Up takes some of the pain out of the process. It provides healthy, restful mornings with a silent and natural wake-up that leaves you feeling amazing while your partner rests undisturbed," said Hu, CEO and founder, LARK Technologies, Inc. "We are thrilled to introduce LARK Up at TechCrunch Disrupt and look forward to soon finding our way into bedrooms across America."
LARK Up wakes users through its thin, comfortable wristband and an iPhone application. Users set the LARK Up mobile alarm application on the iPhone for the desired time and put it onto the custom bedside stand. They then slip on the lightweight LARK Up wristband, designed specifically for nighttime use with breathable and comfortable fabric and no hard edges, buttons, clasps or screens. When the alarm goes off in the morning, it emits a gentle but incredibly effective patented vibration that wakes users from all phases of sleep. This light nudge awakens the Lark Up sleeper but allows loved ones to continue to sleep uninterrupted.
LARK Up is available for pre-orders online beginning today. The cost is $99 per LARK Up and requires a $10 deposit to reserve. There is a limited pre-order quantity of 500 and the first shipment will come in early 2011. For more information or to place your order, go to www.ourlark.com.
About LARK Technologies, Inc.
LARK Technologies, Inc.'s (http://www.ourlark.com) mission is to help couples sleep better so they can have happier and healthier relationships. Founded in 2009 by Julia Hu, CEO, (MIT MBA, Stanford MS/BS), LARK was created to improve her relationship with her own boyfriend, Jeff, while they were both sleep-deprived graduate students at MIT. With their different sleep schedules and her boyfriend's snoozing habits, Julia ended up losing hours of sleep every day until Jeff started sleeping on the couch. Instead of trying to change her partner, she decided to help all couples with different sleep schedules by creating a new solution for the mornings – LARK Up was born. LARK Up today and share a great morning.
