With an eye for quality, a passion for the sea and an inherent appreciation of utilitarian style, founder Ella Vickers takes eco-chic to a new level. Constructed of highly resilient materials including marine-grade canvas sailcloth from around the globe and zippers, the Lands' End Ella Vickers Tote and Duffel offer the quality and value Lands' End has become known for over the last half century.
"Lands' End was founded by an avid sailor – not unlike Ella – who appreciated the quality and hardiness of sailing goods. Our exclusive sailcloth Ella Vickers Tote and Duffel speak directly to our nautical heritage with their sturdy construction, great colors, eco-chic fabrication and durability," said Katherine Finder, vice president and general merchandising manager at Lands' End.
The Lands' End Ella Vickers Tote and Duffel feature a white canvas body made from pre-consumer, recycled sailcloth using the ends left over from sailmaking and a sporty orange Cordura® nylon base. The tote has two carry handles, one exterior pocket and three interior pockets and the duffel has two carry handles, a heavy-duty adjustable/removable strap, two exterior pockets and one interior pocket. Both the tote and duffel feature sail numbers "81" in Lands' End blue on one side with marine flag trim on the external back and side pockets respectively.
The bags are generously sized and ocean durable – made to stand up to wind, salt-spray and the sun's beating rays. Constructed with sun-, mold and mildew- and water-resistant canvas and corrosion-free marine-grade zippers, the bags feature a waterproof vinyl liner with sturdy bound seams, making them hard-wearing and versatile enough to withstand the rigors of the seven seas and everyday life. The Open-Top Tote is $100 and the Duffel Bag is $180.
Vickers, a lifelong sailor and first mate on the America's Cup winner Columbia, first began making marine canvas products during an off-season in 1989.
