Lancope Achieves Common Criteria EAL1 Government Certification for Recent Version of StealthWatch System
Company continues to maintain Common Criteria certification to provide highest levels of network security to government customers
ATLANTA, May 27, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Lancope, Inc., a leader in network visibility and security intelligence, today announced that its StealthWatch® System has achieved Common Criteria Evaluation Assurance Level 1 (EAL1) certification under the Communications Security Establishment Canada (CSEC) Scheme. Lancope has obtained Common Criteria certification for previous versions of the StealthWatch System, and continues to pursue this rigorous testing to provide the highest levels of security to its many customers in the public sector.
Common Criteria is an internationally recognized set of guidelines that define a common framework for evaluating security features and capabilities of IT security products. Common Criteria evaluation is mandated for commercial information security products purchased by the U.S. government for use in national security systems, and has also been adopted as a requirement by other governments around the world.
"Lancope works with many valued public sector customers, including dozens of U.S. government agencies," said Mike Potts, president and CEO of Lancope. "We recognize the criticality of the Common Criteria evaluation to many of these organizations, and take great pride in maintaining this certification to best serve their unique security needs and play our part in defending nations' critical infrastructure."
Lancope's StealthWatch System collects and analyzes NetFlow and other types of flow data to provide cost-effective, continuous security monitoring for government and enterprise networks. Through advanced network behavior and security analytics, Lancope helps protect more than 700 organizations around the world from a wide range of threats including zero-day malware, insider threats, DDoS and Advanced Persistent Threats (APTs). The StealthWatch System delivers unprecedented situational awareness to significantly improve and expedite threat detection, incident response and forensic investigations.
In order to achieve Common Criteria certification, Lancope partnered with the validation and certification experts at consulting firm, Corsec. Together, the companies submitted the StealthWatch System to CGI's accredited, independent evaluation lab for testing.
"As the threat landscape intensifies, government organizations are seeking innovative solutions for keeping advanced attackers out of their networks," said Matthew Appler, CEO of Corsec. "Lancope's StealthWatch System leverages existing infrastructure to provide an always-on sensor grid for quickly detecting today's most dangerous attacks. Maintaining Common Criteria certification enables Lancope to reaffirm its commitment to protecting government infrastructure and ensuring that as many organizations as possible can take advantage of its next-generation technology."
Lancope's government customers include, among many others, the U.S. Department of Defense, Air Force, Army, Department of Justice, Department of the Interior and House of Representatives.
