LAN Airlines Moves Into Terminal 8 at JFK With American Airlines
Colocation to Strengthen the oneworld Partnership
FORT WORTH, Texas, Jan. 31, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- American Airlines and Latin America-based LAN Airlines today announced an expanded relationship in which LAN Airlines affiliates, including LAN Chile, LAN Peru, and LAN Ecuador, will co-locate in Terminal 8 with American at New York's JFK Airport. LAN's move into Terminal 8 marks the fourth oneworld® alliance carrier, besides American, to operate from the terminal, significantly improving convenience for customers by housing the airlines in the same facility.
In November 2011, American increased its commercial cooperation with LAN when it received approval from the United States Department of Transportation (DOT) to begin a codeshare agreement with LAN Ecuador, which provides customers of both airlines more choices and greater connectivity when traveling between the United States, Latin America and across each airline's respective network. The colocation will continue to provide customers of both airlines better travel options and opportunities such as closer proximity to check in, go through immigration, utilize the oneworld transfer center, or access American's and LAN's gates.
"We highly value our partnership with LAN and the benefits it has for our joint customers," said Kenji Hashimoto, American's Vice President – Strategic Alliances. "This colocation reinforces our commitment to deliver the uppermost level of comfort and convenience for our customers traveling to and from Latin America."
The new colocation also allows LAN customers easier access to American's lounges. American offers a recently expanded Admirals Club in Concourse C and an Admirals Club and Flagship Lounge in Concourse B, each of which provide personalized service and state of the art amenities to customers before, after or between flights. The facilities feature a variety of comfortable seating choices, intimate TV lounges, cocktail and bistro areas, as well as expansive exterior views of nearby aircraft activities and the New York City Skyline. Designed for business or personal connectivity, the Admirals Club lounges and Flagship Lounge offer a business center with private carrels and work counters. Customers eligible for the Flagship Lounge can enjoy a complimentary lounge buffet, as well as complimentary premium liquors, regional wines and champagnes. For more information on Admirals Club and Flagship Lounge, including membership, one-day passes and the oneworld lounge access policy log on to www.aa.com/admiralsclub.
American and LAN are continuing to find additional ways to strengthen their partnership.
