The list centers around institutions based or having a satellite campus in Los Angeles. Because of the generally high tuition costs, and each school's star-studded notable alumni, research editor Anne Velusa pinned down more practical data to rank the schools.
Using proven criteria such as freshman retention rate and graduation rate alongside industry-specific factors like course variety and awards earned each school was scored and placed accordingly.
The top spot on the list is held by The Los Angeles Film School. The incredible campus sits right on Sunset Boulevard and encompasses the RCA Building, a historic landmark in the industry. This triple-accredited school easily stole the show because of its state of the art teaching facilities, and the variety of programs offered that would allow a student to attack the industry from any angle. The freshman retention rate is only 69% which is on the lower end of average, but the graduation rate is a solid 80.5% which is nearly 37% higher than the most recently reported national average. Other standouts include UCLA's School of Theater, Film, and Television and the legendary Tim Burton's alma mater, California Institute of the Arts.
