Kurzweil Educational Systems and Learning A-Z Join Forces to Convert the ReadingA-Z.com Leveled Reading Books into Kurzweil 3000™ Format
TUCSON, Ariz. and NATICK, Mass., Oct. 25 /PRNewswire/ -- Kurzweil Educational Systems and Learning A-Z, two businesses within the Cambium Learning Group family of companies (Nasdaq: ABCD), announced today that ReadingA-Z.com leveled reading books will now be available in the Kurzweil 3000 (.kes) format. Converting 700+ ReadingA-Z.com titles into the Kurzweil 3000 (.kes) format will provide elementary and middle school students with learning difficulties and those who are blind or visually impaired with access to hundreds of high-quality, leveled books.
ReadingA-Z.com leveled books are a key component in many reading programs found in classrooms today. ReadingA-Z.com leveled books are not selected from a collection of books and then leveled. Rather, ReadingA-Z.com leveled books have been carefully written in accordance with standardized criteria for each level, then quality checked via a proprietary leveling system.
Kurzweil 3000™ is a comprehensive reading, writing and learning software solution for Tier III and special education students, including but not limited to individuals with learning difficulties, such as dyslexia, attention deficit disorder or those who are English Language Learners (ELL). By combining ReadingA-Z.com leveled books with text, picture, and bilingual dictionaries, language translations, and the ability to read all text aloud through Kurzweil 3000, teachers will be able to differentiate instruction without differentiating curriculum.
"By adding the new Kurzweil versions for most of our titles, teachers now have another way to reach every unique student — including struggling readers and special education students in need of additional help," says Bob Holl, publisher and co-founder of Learning A-Z.
"ReadingA-Z.com readers have compelling content at a variety of levels, and now Kurzweil users will have easy access to those same resources to help keep them engaged and motivated to continue to learn," says Alex Saltonstall, general manager of Cambium Learning Technologies.
Users can access the books by going to the All Books section of ReadingA-Z.com and clicking on the link to each book on the Kurzweil Formatted Readers page. Reading A-Z customers can go to www.kurzweiledu.com for more information about Kurzweil 3000 LearnStation.
