Kolter Group and KAST Construction's Charity Event Raises Over a Million Dollars for Local Non-Profits
WEST PALM, Fla., Dec. 21, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Kolter Group and KAST Construction's Charity Poker Tournament, Havana Nights, has become one of South Florida's most notable fundraisers. This December marked the 3rd Havana Nights charity event held at the Boca Raton Resort's prestigious Cathedral Room where 250 of South Florida's top decision makers put their cards on the table raising over one millions dollars for several charitable organizations.
"I came up with the concept a few years ago because I was sensing that people were getting tired of all the black-tie galas and we wanted to do something memorable. We created a charity poker tournament and made it spectacular. It's the hardest charity poker tournament to get in to as it sells out right away," said Bobby Julien, CEO of Kolter Group and board President of the Achievement Centers for Children and Families. "The joy comes when we get to see the charitable results from what we raised."
The benefiting charities included: Achievement Centers for Children & Families, Children's Cancer Center of Tampa, Community Haven, Habitat for Humanity Palm Beach County, Habitat for Humanity Sarasota, Hospice of Palm Beach County, Literacy Coalition of Palm Beach County, Palm Beach County Food Bank, Place of Hope, Renewal Coalition, SPARCC and Quantum House.
"It is rare to find companies like Kolter and KAST that so heavily invests their leadership's time, talent and skill to promote something like Havana Nights Charity Poker Tournament," states Stephanie Siebel, CEO of Achievement Centers for Children & Families and one of the night's beneficiaries. "Supporting not only our agency's programs and services and what we do, but what so many others are doing as well."
The event brought together over 130 sponsoring companies and an additional 70 donating companies to raise over $1,000,000 to benefit a dozen charities, making this one of the area's most successful fundraisers. Last year the event raised about $594,000 and the first year of this event raised about $350,000.
"We were honored to play a role in this incredible event that benefited so many important non-profits. Our business creates strong foundations, so it's wonderful to support organizations that are building strong charity foundations," said Michael Neal, CEO of KAST Construction Company and Board Member of Achievement Centers for Children and Families.
