OTTAWA, Ontario, March 11, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Kinaxis®, provider of RapidResponse®, a cloud-based SCM and S&OP service, today announced the appointment of Mr. Ronald A. Matricaria to its board of directors. The addition of Matricaria adds deeper industry expertise in life sciences, a market that has seen continued growth for Kinaxis.
Mr. Matricaria has over 35 years of medical device and pharmaceutical experience at St. Jude Medical, Inc. and Eli Lilly and Company Inc. He currently is chairman of the board at Volcano Corporation Inc., a medical device company; is a member of the board at Phoenix Children's Hospital; and, most recently served on the board of directors of Life Technologies Corporation, a life sciences company that was recently acquired by Thermo Fisher Scientific for over $13 billion.
"I am excited to join the Kinaxis board of directors," said Ronald A. Matricaria. "As many life sciences' companies are placing a stronger emphasis on end-to-end value chain performance, I believe Kinaxis fills a critical supply chain planning technology gap. As multiple life sciences market segments mature, I believe the focus on supply chain efficiency and effectiveness will continue to gain momentum. It is a pleasure to join an innovative software as a service (SaaS) company with an experienced management team and board of directors."
"Kinaxis is extremely pleased to have Ronald A. Matricaria join our board," said Douglas Colbeth, CEO of Kinaxis. "He has helped build many high growth enterprises in the life sciences industry both as a CEO and board member. His extensive history in this industry is incredibly valuable and also timely, as Kinaxis continues to expand its presence in this important vertical market."
Life sciences companies are faced with a fragmented demand chain with varying regulatory requirements across markets, while employing outsourcing at all levels of the supply chain to reduce costs, satisfy local demand, and enhance capacity flexibility. Needing to deliver to diverse customer requirements while coordinating an extended supply chain in an environment of constant change is the current reality for life sciences companies. As industry dynamics intensify, this has had a direct and material impact on the way supply chains must operate. There is growing evidence that existing technology architectures are not satisfying the emerging capability needs. Kinaxis has helped life science companies adopt process improvements and technology targeted at removing business "silos," improving collaboration, and achieving significant operations performance breakthroughs. He also chaired the BioMedical Engineering Institute campaign, which raised an operating endowment for the Institute at the University of Minnesota. He remains a Trustee emeritus of the University of Minnesota Foundation.
