Kimball® Office Seating Lines Earn SCS Indoor Advantage™ Gold Certification
JASPER, Ind., Feb. 24, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Continuing Kimball® Office's long history of creating, developing, and manufacturing sustainable products, the company is pleased to announce that all of its Scientific Certification Systems (SCS) Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) certified seating lines have received Indoor Advantage™ Gold certification, and meet California specification 01350 of emissions. Additionally, 98 percent of all Kimball Office products meet Business and Institutional Furniture Manufacturer's Association (BIFMA) level™ e3 furniture sustainability standards.

The SCS Indoor Advantage program applies to products used within enclosed, indoor environments – specifically within a commercial or classroom setting. To achieve gold level certification, each product must meet IAQ requirements as defined by the U.S. Green Building Council rating system. To date, all but two of Kimball Office's seating lines meet these standards. The SCS environmental certification process includes site audits to access documented control systems, including quality control plans, record keeping, and select product samples for laboratory testing.
Indoor air quality is one of the largest contributions office furniture can make to buildings seeking Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED®) certification.
