Kickstarter project solves 2016 MacBook Pro USB-C issue in one elegant package
SAN JOSE, Calif., Dec. 12, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- The first month of sales for the 2016 MacBook Pro have proven that people are not shying away from the USB-C only equipped notebook. This has created an issue for the countless buyers who are now unable to connect their external monitors, hard drives, phones and other traditional USB equipped gadgets. The few existing hubs on the market are bland, poor quality and are often made by unknown manufacturers. These are qualities that don't sit well with buyers in the premium notebook segment. However, due to the lack of premium USB-C connectivity devices, these new MacBook Pro owners are forced to adapt to these budget hubs.
This led Silicon Valley startup Branch to create a new hub called the cPro and is undoubtedly one of the most important accessories for the new MacBook Pro. The cPro is a form fitted, all aluminum hub for the new MacBook Pro, that was designed from the ground up to contour and hug the notebook. The cPro gives the notebook access to an HDMI port, 3 super-speed USB 3.0 ports, SD & Micro SD card slots, and a USB-C charging port. Branch has even returned that orange/green charging light that was so beloved in the charger cable of the previous generation MacBook Pro.
"It would be crazy to look elsewhere," said a Branch spokesperson. "There's nothing else that is this well designed and engineered on the market. Couple that with an affordable price point for the premium market and we believe cPro will eventually be the leader in connectivity devices for the MacBook Pro." The quality of the hub is very high, using similar manufacturing techniques found in other Apple products. The body, made from bead-blasted aluminum, has a smooth matte finish, and the contact points are supported by textured rubber to prevent scratching. With all these features, the cPro is still thinner than the overall thickness of both the 13" and 15" 2016 MacBook Pro.
The cPro launched on Thursday, December 8th exclusively on Kickstarter https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/branchusb/cpro-form-fitted-dock-for-2016-macbook-pro/ and will ship in the coming weeks. Branch (buy-branch.com) is a hardware design startup based San Jose, California. They have already shown success on Kickstarter having delivered their first project the BranchBox USB-C hub to over 30 countries worldwide.
