The Kenwood Vineyards Earth Day bottle necker includes a special "planet earth" insert of seed paper, which – when soaked overnight in water, planted under a thin layer of soil in a sunny location and watered regularly until seedlings become established – will produce a mixture of wildflowers. The bottle necker itself is printed on Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certified, partial post-consumer recycled paper stock, which assures responsible forest management, reduces waste and saves energy.
The Kenwood Vineyards Earth Day bottle necker reflects Kenwood Vineyards' strong commitment to the environment. Kenwood farms its estate vineyards using sustainable winegrowing techniques, including cover crops to control erosion and amend soils, integrated pest management to minimize chemical use, and composted winery pomace and vineyard prunings to add nutrients. Open land is kept in its natural state to maintain biodiversity, and fencing – when needed – is strictly limited to vineyard areas to permit unfettered migration of deer and other animals. High efficiency fluorescent lighting throughout the winery significantly reduces energy use. A concerted, winery-wide effort to conserve, reuse and recycle keeps waste to a minimum. All Kenwood Vineyards promotional material is printed on paper with at least 10% post-consumer (i.e., recycled) fiber content. Last, but by no means least, Kenwood Vineyards recently began releasing a significant percentage of its production in ECO Series™ wine bottles that require less energy to produce and ship than the bottles previously used.
Established in 1970 in the Sonoma Valley, Kenwood Vineyards produces premium wines that express the exceptional quality and character of Sonoma County vineyards.
Live responsibly.
