Kentucky Health Cooperative Postpones Entering West Virginia Health Insurance Market
Nonprofit organization that will be governed by its members plans to enter West Virginia market in 2016
LOUISVILLE, Ky., Nov. 6, 2014 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Kentucky Health Cooperative, Inc. announced today that it is postponing plans to enter the West Virginia health insurance market for one year. Kentucky Health Cooperative, which has received approval to do business as West Virginia Health Cooperative, will join the Marketplace in West Virginia in 2016.
Kentucky Health Cooperative Board of Directors chairman Joseph E. Smith said, "Postponing participation on the Marketplace in West Virginia until 2016 gives us additional time to ensure we are ready to go live and compete in that market."
Noting that Kentucky Health Cooperative is providing health insurance coverage to approximately 57,000 Kentuckians, he added, "We have been very pleased with enrollment in Kentucky and look forward to welcoming new members in West Virginia."
