BATTLE CREEK, Mich., March 10, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- It's no secret women are forces to be reckoned with – their inner strength is not something that can be defined, but it certainly can't be denied. In fact, 94 percent of women in the U.S. think that now, more than ever, women have the power to be whatever they want to be, and feel empowered to challenge the status quo.1
That's why, in partnership with actress, comedienne – and all around powerhouse – Tracee Ellis Ross(black-ish), Special K® is launching the "Nourish Your Next" project to recognize and celebrate get-after-it, bring-it-on, ready-for-what's next women, and nourish what they have their sights set on next. Throughout the year, Special K will be on the lookout for women who are rocking it, and celebrating their inner strength in ways big and small. Show us how you're rocking it and share #whatsnext with @SpecialKUS.
"There's beauty in this idea that all of us as women are nourishing our lives in a way that allows us to go out there and get what's next for us – be who we are in a really full and beautiful way, and live these lives that we're all living," said Ross. "I'm really excited to partner with Special K to help recognize and celebrate what it is to be an awesome woman. We should all do what we can in our daily lives to remember that we're glorious and powerful and more than enough."
To kick off the celebration, Special K and Ross are announcing the first "Nourish Your Next" recipient, Atlanta-based "Strong is the New Pretty" photographer Kate T. Parker. What started as a personal photography project for the mother to two young daughters is now a mission to combat the messages often sent to women and girls by showing that true beauty is not in a hairstyle, outfit or body type, but in being yourself 100 percent.
Inspired by her mission, Special K is helping Parker reach a new audience with her message, starting with her first-ever New York City gallery exhibit where she'll showcase that strong is indeed the new pretty and unveil #whatsnext. Never-before-seen photos from a special shoot with Ross will also be featured among the images. The exhibit will be open to the public March 17, 11 a.m. – 5 p.m. EST at the newly opened Sky Gallery (12 Little W 12th St.) in the heart of the Meatpacking District.
To help feed women's inner strength, Kellogg's is also unveiling what's next from Special K – new Special K Nourish™ cereal, a line of delicious, wholesome cereals to help them tackle and embrace everything that comes their way. Offered in two unique and delicious flavor combinations – Apple Raspberry Almond and Coconut Cranberry Almond – Special K Nourish is made with ingredients you can see, like multi-grain flakes with quinoa, wholesome granola, delicious fruit and sliced almonds that provide positive nutrition. Both varieties are available at retailers nationwide for a suggested retail price of $4.49.
