MANAMA, Bahrain, Oct. 5 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Kaya Henderson, Deputy Chancellor for the District of Columbia Public Schools, will join leading education experts in the Kingdom of Bahrain at The Education Project 2010, a three day conference focused on facilitating change in education worldwide.
Deputy Chancellor Henderson will be joined by three District of Columbia Public School principals: Willie Jackson of Eliot-Hine Middle School; Dwan Jordon of Sousa Middle School, and Elizabeth Whisnant of Mann Elementary School. The Education Project will take place from October 8-10, 2010.
"Improving the quality of our schools is often viewed as a local issue, but is a global challenge and should be addressed as such," said Deputy Chancellor Henderson. "I look forward to sharing our successes in Washington, D.C. to help global educators make tangible improvements in their education systems. I am equally excited for the opportunity to learn from leading experts in the field who are implementing new and innovative programs in their schools."
The Education Project was initiated by His Royal Highness Prince Salman Bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince of Bahrain and Chairman of the Kingdom's Economic Development Board (EDB), to identify solutions that address the gap in the quality of the global education system. The Education Project will showcase seedling models of innovation and success in education and encourage commitments from the private and public sector to adapt these models for wider implementation. The event, launched in 2009, will offer highly interactive workshops and plenary sessions and will provide open debate among education experts from diverse cultures and backgrounds.
"We are very pleased that Deputy Chancellor Henderson has agreed to join the esteemed speakers at The Education Project 2010 in Bahrain," said Shaikh Mohammed bin Essa Al Khalifa, Chief Executive of the EDB. "We are gathering leading experts from around the world to help address the global education gap. We want delegates to leave equipped with the information and insights, commitments, partnerships and backing they need to enable them to make real changes."
The Education Project is free to attend for educational professionals from all sectors as well as from public and private sector institutions with an interest in developing new models and standards in education. Entry is by invitation only; for more information and to register online visit: www.educationprojectbahrain.org
