Leading Woman-Owned Life Sciences Venture Firm Builds and Advances High-Growth Companies in Greater Philadelphia

"Katie" McGinty has joined as a partner. McGinty has an impressive career in the private and public sectors where the development and commercialization of technology has been a top priority and interest coupled with an academic background in chemistry.

McGinty's public sector career includes serving as the first woman to chair the White House Council on Environmental Quality during President Bill Clinton's administration and as Secretary of Environmental Protection under Governor Ed Rendell. McGinty served as Chief of Staff to Governor Tom Wolf and most recently was the Democratic nominee for United States Senate in Pennsylvania.
McGinty's career in government was launched when she was awarded the Congressional Fellowship of the American Chemical Society and went to work for then-Senator Al Gore developing legislation to strengthen the competitiveness of U.S. high tech companies commercializing basic research. Just prior, with a degree in chemistry from St. Joseph's University and a law degree from Columbia University, McGinty was awarded a judicial clerkship on the Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, the federal appellate court that has special jurisdiction over intellectual property matters.
In addition to her public sector experience, McGinty has had a distinguished career in the private sector, serving as a Director with NRG Energy, as Senior Vice President and Managing Director with Weston Solutions, and as an Operating Partner at clean tech private equity firm, Element Partners. McGinty has extensive experience working with early stage and startup companies, serving as a director or on the advisory board of many young enterprises.
