Kareo EHR Receives Certification For Meaningful Use Stage 2
With an award winning, fully-featured, and free offering, Kareo is on a mission to enable EHR adoption among small medical practices
IRVINE, Calif., March 18, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Kareo Inc., the leading provider of cloud-based medical office software and services for small medical practices, today announced that Kareo EHR was certified on March 14, 2014 by the Drummond Group, an Office of the National Coordinator Authorized Certification Body (ONC-ACB). Kareo EHR is now fully compliant with Meaningful Use 2014 Edition Stage 1 and 2 and is among a select group of less than 12% of EHRs to have satisfied the new and more rigorous certification criteria in 2014.
"We are thrilled to achieve the 2014 Edition Meaningful Use certification of Kareo EHR," said Dan Rodrigues, CEO and founder of Kareo. "This year is the final opportunity for doctors to implement a certified EHR to avoid future payment penalties. Our goal is to deliver a highly compelling and fully certified product to the more than 40% of small practice doctors without an EHR today while also serving existing EHR users looking for a solution that actually meets their needs."
According to a January 2014 SK&A survey, more than 40% of physicians in private practice have not yet adopted an EHR despite billions of dollars in government incentives. Among the reasons many physicians have not yet adopted an EHR are perceptions about the cost, complexity, and impact of EHR deployment. The vast majority of doctors are dissatisfied with their current EHR solution. A 2013 RAND study funded by the AMA found, for many physicians, use of an EHR reduced professional satisfaction, and a 2014 Medical Economics survey found that 67% of physicians are dissatisfied with their current EHR solution. Poor EHR usability, time-consuming data entry, interference with face-to-face patient care, and inefficient and less fulfilling work content were included as major sources of dissatisfaction.
Doctors looking to adopt an EHR for the first time or replace their current solution will love Kareo EHR. Kareo EHR is absolutely free. This means doctors can adopt an EHR and begin participating in the Meaningful Use program without spending thousands of dollars typical of other EHR solutions. Kareo EHR was built with the workflows and objectives of the private practice in mind, and because it's mobile friendly, doctors can spend more time engaging with patients and less time sitting behind their computer. Kareo EHR seamlessly integrates with Kareo's other leading, award-winning small practice solutions for practice management and revenue cycle management.
Kareo EHR is a doctor favorite. "I began using Kareo EHR about 10 months ago and now use my iPad mini to document encounters, e-prescribe, access my schedule, and access patient demographics," said Dr. Chris Tsimerekis, endocrinologist at Chris Tsimerekis M.D., Inc. "I'm very happy I chose Kareo as my technology partner and recommend it to colleagues without reservation."
Kareo EHR is also appreciated for its physician-friendly features and ease of use. "Just like Kareo Practice Management, you can be up and running with Kareo EHR in no time, and the functionality makes charting so much less arduous and time-consuming," said Kenneth Lee, CFO at Physiatry Reimbursement Specialists, Inc. "The fact that it is free makes it an easy decision, and if you already use Kareo PM this is a no-brainer."
This complete EHR is 2014 Edition compliant and has been certified by an ONC-ACB in accordance with the applicable certification criteria adopted by the Secretary of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. This certification does not represent an endorsement by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services or guarantee the receipt of incentive payments. Kareo EHR Version 3.0 does not require any fees for the use of this certified product.
