Kaiser Permanente Announces Walking App for Apple Watch at HIMSS15

OAKLAND, Calif., April 13, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Kaiser Permanente announced today at the 2015 Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society Annual Conference and Exhibition that its Every Body Walk! app will be available on the Apple Watch at launch on April 24.

The Every Body Walk! app was originally created for smartphones in 2011 to support anyone interested in tracking their activity and taking steps to make healthy behavior change. The app is simple and easy to use, making it a good fit for the Apple Watch format. Consumers can use the app to set fitness goals, track activity and view statistics at a glance through colorful and easy-to-read graphics.

Kaiser Permanente has a long history of using digital technology to empower members with easy and convenient access to the information and tools they need to manage their health. Today, 4.9 million members are registered to use Kaiser Permanente's personal health record, My Health Manager on kp.org, and the KP mobile app has been downloaded more than 1.5 million times. Members can email their doctors, view test results, refill prescriptions and schedules appointments through both powerful tools.

In 2014 members used the website to:

• Send 20 million emails to care providers
• View 37.4 million lab test results
• Refill 17.5 million prescriptions
• Schedule 4.2 million appointments
