RENO, Nev., Sept. 26, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- The Biggest Little City, Reno, Nevada, hosts the sixth annual Reno Bites Week Oct. 9-15 as chefs present their culinary creations citywide. This year, the event celebrates the great American road trip with local restaurants presenting their chefs' individual takes on road trip food memories.
The 2017 edition, presented by Sysco Corporation, features over 20 local restaurants, each presenting a unique and competitively priced prix fixe menu. Each evening features a distinctive event culminating with the Chef Showdown, sponsored by Czyz's Appliance and Sierra Meat & Seafood, as eight of the city's top chefs go head to head in a culinary cookoff with the winning chef taking home a Williams-Sonoma gift card and the all-important bragging rights.
Reno Bites Week co-founder and celebrity chef Clint Jolly said he is thrilled with the reception this event has received in the community.
"All these chefs and restaurants coming together year after year for this event is an exciting adventure for Reno," he said. "This year, our Road Trip theme evokes memories of family vacations and I can't wait to see how each restaurant creates a menu on this theme."
Signature events during Reno Bites Week include a kickoff dinner at Roundabout Grill, the Downtown Walkabite progressive dinner, Road Trip dinner events and the perennial favorite Chef Showdown. The Reno Bites Week Passport returns in 2017, sponsored by and available at Whole Foods Market, providing culinarians a pocket-sized guide for all events and serving as the end-of-week contest entry for a Whole Foods shopping spree.
This year Reno Bites Week partners with TravelNevada, Nevada's Division of Tourism, for the Reno Bites Road Trip promoting food-themed travel throughout the region. Foodies who post pictures with the hashtags #RenoBitesRoadTrip, #DFMI and #TravelNevada will be entered into a drawing to win a spot on the judging panel for the Chef Showdown and a dinner for two.
