Johns Hopkins Health System is 100th healthcare Provider to Integrate OnBase With Leading Electronic Medical Record System
Hyland Software's ECM solution, OnBase, integrates with leading EMR enterprise-wide at Johns Hopkins Health System, including ambulatory, inpatient, clinical and administrative areas
CLEVELAND, Feb. 15, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Healthcare organizations are becoming more efficient and effective through technology, all in the name of creating a more connected patient care environment. But to have this connected environment, the systems that manage the information, especially the electronic medical record (EMR) and enterprise content management (ECM) solution, must work well together. Hyland Software, a leader in ECM for healthcare, has a proven integration for its OnBase ECM solution with the Epic EMR, and continues to demonstrate that the integration meets the needs of healthcare providers. Johns Hopkins Health System is the 100th organization to integrate OnBase with the Epic EMR.

"Features and functionality of a solution are important. But as healthcare providers are rethinking IT for the enterprise, they're also looking for vendors with solutions that are proven and have a reputation to back it up," said Susan deCathelineau, senior manager of healthcare solutions for Hyland Software. "Hyland has a tested, nimble ECM solution that continues to successfully integrate with the Epic EMR, as well as an incredible level of dedication to partnering with our customers for the life of their solution. This gives our customers confidence that they aren't just working with a vendor who is a leader in ECM, but one that understands their specific, ongoing needs."
As Johns Hopkins Health System grew to six hospitals, numerous outpatient centers and other clinical sites, EMRs were duplicated and its ECM system wasn't scaling well. To create an IT environment that could grow with the organization long-term, Johns Hopkins chose to convert to OnBase.
The organization will implement the EMR and ECM solution starting in the ambulatory departments at Johns Hopkins Hospital and the Bayview Medical Center, as well as the Johns Hopkins Community physician sites. The solution will then be implemented throughout all inpatient and outpatient environments at Sibley Memorial and Howard County Hospital before rounding back to the remaining hospitals and inpatient environments. Eventually, OnBase will also be implemented in financial departments, integrating with the SAP ERP solution.
Today, more than 1,400 healthcare organizations use OnBase, and 800 of these integrate OnBase with their EMR or health information system, from Cerner to Allscripts to MEDITECH and more.
