JapanTown Healthy Food & Green Festival Invigorates Midtown on August 22, 2010
NEW YORK, Aug. 11 /PRNewswire/ -- This year's annual JapanTown is pleased to introduce the Healthy Food & Green Festival, the second festival in its three-part series that will take place on August 22nd. Promoting a healthy lifestyle using Japanese ingredients and cooking methods, the festival aims to enlighten New Yorkers about the many wholesome foods and flavors of Japan and how to incorporate them into American kitchens, ultimately increasing the understanding of Japanese culture through food. Starring in the festival are the flavorful offerings from international Japanese brands and local restaurants.
Health-conscious visitors can look forward to sampling some uniquely Japanese eats such as edamame vegetable gyoza, organic ramen noodle salad, misoyaki, organic Japanese vegetables, and Kikkoman soy products. Iced kukicha, hiyayako, hiyashi chuuka, and black sesame ice cream—all perfect for the summer heat— will also be offered. Debuting at the festival will be Ryokko Aojiru, the famous Japanese health drink made primarily from organically-grown barely. Additionally, samples of Tea's Tea green tea will be distributed by Ito En.
The Healthy Food & Green Festival is sponsored by several well-known companies that share the mission to promote health and well-being. Among them is JRO (Organization to Promote Japanese Restaurants Abroad), whose mission is to teach the world about Japanese food culture. It will conduct demonstrations on the many versatile ways to utilize Japanese ingredients in everyday life. Other sponsors and restaurants include Marukome, Ajinomoto, Asahi Ryokuken, and Souen.
Besides food, there will be entertainment, raffles for airline tickets to Japan, Japanese kawaii and anime products galore.
Come for a cultural and culinary experience that won't leave you feeling guilty!
