ST. LOUIS, Dec. 21, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Enterprise Holdings Inc., the largest car rental company in the world, has recognized 21 of its regional subsidiaries with the annual Jack Taylor Founding Values Award.
"This competition, named after my father, challenges senior managers and their teams to reach new levels of corporate citizenship and inspires them to carry on a legacy of exceptional service year after year," said Jo Ann Taylor Kindle, president of the Enterprise Holdings Foundation, the philanthropic arm of Enterprise Holdings. "I can think of no better way to honor my father's memory than to celebrate those who exemplify his Founding Values."
Enterprise Holdings, through its regional subsidiaries and franchise locations, operates an integrated global network of more than 9,600 neighborhood and airport locations under the Enterprise Rent-A-Car, National Car Rental and Alamo Rent A Car brands.
These independent regional subsidiaries not only work with local vendors and small businesses, but also make most key operational decisions at the grassroots level, with a strong entrepreneurial focus as well as a clear sense of local accountability and autonomy. Every year, all of Enterprise Holdings' subsidiaries submit entries that outline their respective goals, action plans and results around the six points of Enterprise's Cultural Compass, a planning and goal-setting tool that helps managers fully integrate best practices into the way they run their day-to-day business.

The Jack Taylor Founding Values Award, which began in 2003, honors top regional subsidiaries for their commitment to integrating the company's core values into their daily operations. That means not only achieving operational excellence during the fiscal year, but also focusing on key priority areas such as philanthropy, diversity and business ethics. The Enterprise Holdings Foundation then provides each winning subsidiary a $20,000 grant that can be awarded to nonprofit organizations in its local community.
Enterprise Holdings Foundation
In addition to supporting the annual Jack Taylor Founding Values Award program, the Enterprise Holdings Foundation contributes to thousands of local nonprofits every year, with a special focus on community improvement, education and environmental stewardship. The Foundation was established in 1982 as a way to give back to the communities that drove Enterprise's growth and success. Since then, the Foundation has contributed more than $266 million to charitable causes, providing $27.3 million in grant funding in fiscal year 2016 alone. Almost 90 percent of those grants fulfilled employee requests to help community causes they personally champion and actively support.
The Foundation also provides sizable grants to nonprofits that have strategic or social importance, as well as to relief projects as they arise, including natural disasters that affect customers and employees. For example, donations in 2016 included support for the American Red Cross Annual Disaster Giving Program, the Enterprise Rent-A-Car 50 Million Tree Pledge and the 75th Commemoration of Pearl Harbor, among others. In October, the Foundation announced a companywide initiative to fight hunger. The program, called Fill Your Tank, celebrates the company's 60th anniversary by providing $60 million to address food insecurity around the globe.
