J. Philip Real Estate Opens Pelham, NY Branch Office

BRIARCLIFF MANOR, N.Y., Oct. 8, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- J. Philip Real Estate, one of Westchester County's leading independent brokerages, will announce the grand opening of its new Pelham, N.Y. branch at an open house event on Oct. 9. The new branch has 20 agents and a listing inventory of almost 40 properties, bringing the Briarcliff Manor-based firm to a total of 55 agents and 120 listings with the expansion. The branch will serve all of southern Westchester and the Bronx.

"We are very bullish on the market in the south part of the county," broker-owner J Philip Faranda stated. "Pelham is a strategic locale due to the proximity of Yonkers and Mt. Vernon to the west, the Bronx just south and the Sound Shore to the east, so agents there can be in convenient proximity to a fertile listing stock."

Faranda, the 2014 president of the Hudson Gateway Multiple Listing Service and a member of Zillow.com's agent advisory board, founded the firm in 2005 in a spare room of his house.

He attributes the firm's growth during the industry downturn to its embrace of technology and social media. "We were early adapters of things that the public wanted, like online listing syndication and video," he said. "A group of agents in southern Westchester saw what we were doing and wanted to be a part of it, so we looked for the right location for them to have as a base of operations. Pelham is a perfect fit."

Faranda, the outspoken author of the Westchester Real Estate Blog, said that the location will also be a home for J Philip's commercial division and headed by co-owner Jennifer Maher, whom he praised as "intelligent, innovative, and contagiously enthusiastic." In addition, he pledged to continue to hire committed agents for both residential and commercial throughout the metropolitan area, promising "the best tools in the industry."

The grand opening with be Thursday, October 9th from 6:30 to 9:00 pm with food, wine and music. Industry colleagues and consumers are all invited to the open house.
