It's No Fluke! 'Live Mermaid' Touts New Swimming/Water Awareness Program at Kalahari Resort in Wisconsin Dells
WISCONSIN DELLS, Wis., July 16 /PRNewswire/ -- To help remind kids and parents about swim safety at the height of the summer, a "live mermaid" recently made a big splash at Kalahari Resort's indoor and outdoor waterparks. Featuring a 35-lb engineered tail and super-human abilities, such as holding her breath underwater for nearly five minutes, Mermaid Linden Wolbert, who travels the world encouraging kids to learn to swim, helped Kalahari lifeguards officially unveil a refresher course in swim safety.

Kalahari Resort began offering the Swimming/Water Awareness Program earlier this summer to children ages 3-12 to provide families with key safety tips prior to having a day of fun in the resort's waterparks. The complimentary course is operated daily by certified lifeguards from 8 a.m. to 8:45 a.m., prior to the waterpark's official opening.
"Kids and families are naturally excited when they visit our waterparks and we think it is critical to remind them about water awareness before they dive in," said Travis Nelson, spokesman for Kalahari Resort. "Everybody remembers where they learned to swim and Kalahari is thrilled to be part of that memory."
Kalahari's Swimming/Water Awareness Program covers swimming refresher tips, such as:
- Obey the rules on the in-park signage (parents, be sure to read all attraction signage)
- Always observe an attraction before trying it to understand how it works
- Check the depth of the attraction before trying it
- Always follow the lifeguards' instructions
As a leader in the waterpark industry, offering some of the largest and most innovative indoor and outdoor waterpark experiences in the world, guest safety and security is the number one priority. Kalahari meets, or in many cases, exceeds, state and federal guidelines for water safety.
