Issue 1 Supporters Launch 'Your Story' Video Campaign
"You Tube" videos highlight Ohio Third Frontier success stories
COLUMBUS, Ohio, April 14 /PRNewswire/ -- The United for Jobs and Ohio's Future coalition kicked its "YES on Issue 1" campaign into overdrive today by rolling out its "Your Story" video campaign highlighting Ohio Third Frontier success stories.
Issue 1 is the statewide ballot measure on the May 4 primary ballot that will continue the highly successful Ohio Third Frontier technology-based economic development program. The current funding mechanism for the program, approved by Ohio voters in 2005, expires in 2012. Passage of Issue 1 will authorize $700 million in bonds to extend funding for another four years.
Ohioans who have benefited from Ohio Third Frontier support were asked to submit video testimonials that explain how they have benefited from the program and why they plan on voting for Issue 1. The videos are posted online at http://www.youtube.com/YesonIssue1Ohio.
"When voters see these real stories from real people who, with support from the Ohio Third Frontier, have launched new companies, commercialized new technologies and created new jobs, they'll understand why so many people across Ohio are planning to vote 'yes' on Issue 1," said Matt Cox, campaign manager for the United for Jobs and Ohio's Future coalition. "The video testimonials illustrate that the Third Frontier is fueling economic growth in our state one entrepreneur at a time, one start-up company at a time, one new job at a time. Voter approval of Issue 1 will mean hundreds more new companies and business expansions and thousands more new jobs for Ohio."
Created in 2002 with bipartisan leadership and support, the Ohio Third Frontier makes targeted state investments in research, technologies and entrepreneurs that show great promise for creating jobs and fueling economic growth. Since its inception, the Third Frontier has created more than 48,000 new jobs; attracted, launched or capitalized more than 500 companies; and generated $6.6 billion in economic activity.
