IP Infusion Announces General Availability of ZebOS(R) Network Platform 7.8
SUNNYVALE, Calif., May 18 /PRNewswire/ -- IP Infusion, an ACCESS company and a leading global provider of networking protocol stacks for Next Generation Network (NGN) equipment manufacturers and converged IP services providers, today announced that it has begun shipping its ZebOS® Network Platform version 7.8 software.
The bandwidth explosion resulting from the growth of data-hungry devices on both wireless and wireline networks has put immediate pressure on service providers to upgrade their networks. ZebOS 7.8 Network Platform has been developed to enable telecommunications equipment OEMs to offer state-of-the-art equipment to service providers so they can rapidly deploy the services needed to satisfy this demand. ZebOS 7.8 provides solutions in the following areas that are of specific interest to service and network providers.
- Next Generation technology for Packet Based Transport (GMPLS support)
- Enhanced resiliency in Core networks (MPLS resiliency)
- Growing need for lower cost services in Metro (MEF Carrier Ethernet support)
- Next Generation Data Centers to manage the huge data requirements (Data Center Bridging)
- Policy routing in Access and Backhaul networks (Policy Based Routing)
ZebOS 7.8 provides support for Generalized Multiprotocol Label Switching (GMPLS) for packet and Ethernet switching (GELS). With the new 7.8 release, ZebOS provides the foundation for MPLS-TP with features such as Operations and Maintenance (OAM) for carrier-grade resilience and reliability of converged packet transport networks supporting technologies such as Ethernet pseudo wires and Label Switching Paths (LSPs). The co-existence of ZebOS MPLS and GMPLS solutions on the same node enables equipment manufacturers to unify the control and management of multi-layer networks.
The policy based routing (PBR) in ZebOS 7.8 enables customers to have finer policies to implement forwarding and routing that go beyond traditional routing. This provides OEMs with the capability to route traffic depending on business use case.
To support carrier-grade wireless backhaul and Metro Ethernet deployments, ZebOS 7.8 added best-of-class support for Metro Ethernet service protection and service level OAM, as well as automated Ethernet service provisioning based on Metro Ethernet Forum (MEF) specifications.
ZebOS 7.8 has added support for Data Center Bridging (DCB) to enable the enhanced Quality of Service mechanisms to Ethernet required for the data center. DCB along with the other IP, Ethernet and MPLS transport technologies provides customers with a complete platform to satisfy transport needs in the data center.
"Today's networks are undergoing a major upgrade to next generation packet-based technology," said Koichi Narasaki, president and CEO, IP Infusion. "ZebOS 7.8 is targeted at filling the needs of equipment manufacturers and service providers faced with the challenges of the exploding demand for Internet bandwidth due to the new generation of data-hungry smart phones, IPTVs and Web 2.0 applications. With the features included in ZebOS 7.8, IP Infusion is changing the way network equipment manufacturers design networks, thus solidifying our role as an industry leader in providing essential, market-ready solutions to enable quick deployment of products in the expanding communications markets."
