PITTSBURGH, March 4, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- "After working in several nursing environments, I have encountered patients who continue to develop pressure ulcers despite multiple prophylactic methods and continuous skin observation," said an inventor from DeWitt, Ark. "I wanted to develop an invention that would provide a simple, reusable and inexpensive alternative to current standards of practice to help all healthcare professionals and individuals decrease the incidence of pressure ulcers."
He developed THE EXACT PRESSURE PILLOW to allow caregivers in all spectrums of healthcare to know the exact amount of pressure exerted on any area of skin. Knowing the amount of pressure down to a single mm of Hg that's exerted on a given area will allow confidence in relieving skin pressure. The device ensures that the patient is adequately turned to relieve capillary obstruction and return blood flow to optimize skin health/integrity. This will allow both health-care professionals and non-medical personnel to ensure that an area of skin has been relieved of pressure, decreasing incidences of pressure injuries (decreasing costs). It increases skin integrity of the patient in all areas of healthcare. Additionally the pillow is washable and reusable, as well as easy to use.
