Gunn has lectured widely on fashion and lifestyle design and, especially, Parsons' role in putting America on the global design map. In 2000, Gunn was appointed Chair of the Department of Fashion Design at Parsons with the charge of retooling and invigorating the curriculum for the 21st century. Under his direction, the department was repositioned as the indisputable leader in fashion design education in America, and as one of only a handful of leading programs in the world.
"We're thrilled to offer a keynote speaker of the caliber of Tim Gunn at ideation2015," said Mike Elia, Gerber Technology CEO. "He truly understands the demands of the fashion and apparel industry, and especially how important it is to have the best possible resources and tools available. His insights into navigating today's numerous technologies will be valuable to everyone attending the conference."
ideation2015 offers panel discussions, hands-on workshops, demonstrations, case studies and networking opportunities. In addition, this year's conference will feature a competition for students pursuing a degree in Fashion Design. Using vintage dresses from the famous Darnell Collection as inspiration, students will design their own fashions, which will be produced in 3D, physically created and modeled at the conference.
"We are appreciative of Tim Gunn's contributions to fashion design education and his support of technology-led solutions," said Elia. "I'm certain that the best practices stories he will offer in his keynote will have a lasting impact on our audience, especially the design students who are our leaders of the future."
Gunn's interviews have appeared in a wide range of publications, from Newsweek and The New York Times to Entertainment Weekly and Martha Stewart Living, as well as Women's Wear Daily, Fortune and Fast Company. He has appeared on numerous television programs, and is executive producer and star of Project Runway and the upcoming reality series Project Runway Junior. He is also a New York Times best-selling author, with his critically acclaimed book, Gunn's Golden Rules: Life's Little Lessons for Making It Work.
