One of the worlds most unique music festivals, Sligo Jazz Project (SJP) has announced a stellar 16-strong summer school faculty and jazz festival line up for its 2012 main event, which runs from July 24-29 in the northwest of Ireland gateway city. Most significant is the return of jazz double bass legend Rufus Reid who joins renowned drum guru John Riley, bassists John Goldsby and Michael Janisch, trombone maestro Marshall Gilkes, pianist John Taylor, vocalist Diana Torto and festival guest of honour Kenny Wheeler. Sligo Jazz Project features 16 renowned international musicians and educators at their music school summer course. Six days of intense activity, with workshops and masterclasses each day, concerts in the evening and jam sessions each night, provides the best possible training for any jazz musician.
