International Flipped Learning Certification Program Launched
The Flipped Learning Global Initiative to offer training and certification of basic flipped classroom knowledge and skills
CHICAGO, Sept. 27, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Today, the Flipped Learning Global Initiative (FLGI), a worldwide coalition of educators, researchers, technologists, professional development providers and education leaders announced the Flipped Learning Level-I certification program. The training and certification program were developed to provide the basic knowledge required to successfully implement the flipped classroom model to enhance personalized and differentiated teaching and learning.
The pilot program includes nine (9) units and covers these essential topics:
- Understanding the pedagogy of flipped learning
- Planning for flipped learning
- Flipped learning best practices
- Tech Tools of the flipped classroom
- Effective use of class time
- Implementing flipping learning in different subjects and levels
- Assessments and flipped learning
- Selecting the right technologies
- Taking the flipped class to the next level
The Flipped Learning Certification program combines the latest research on flipped learning with the proven best practices from educators around the world. The Flipped Learning Level – I Certification will provide the most current foundational knowledge for flipped learning practitioners.
One of the most vital pieces of the training is the technology selection unit. A wrong technology choice is one of the biggest mistakes that cause flipped learning implementations to fail. The unit was created to give educators the specific tools needed to determine which technology is well-suited for flipped learning and those which are not.
"We are excited about the launch of the Flipped Learning Level -1 Certification Program. I've seen the costs to teachers, administrators and students of groping through the process of implementing the flipped classroom. Training can make the difference between success and the loss of buy-in from teachers, administrators, parents and students," said Jon Bergmann, flipped learning co-founder, evangelist, and center of a global network of flipped learning early adopters around the world.
The Flipped Learning Level - I Certification is designed for three groups of educators:
- Educators who are new to flipped learning and want to start flipping their classrooms
- Educators who are experienced with flipped learning and want to validate their knowledge and have their skills certified.
- Administrators who are considering implementing flipped learning and need to master the basics.
The online Flipped Learning Certification pilot is being beta tested this week by a selected group of International Flipped Learning Ambassadors and will be opened to the pubic once the necessary updates have been made.
