Instagram Offered $1 Million By Australian Marketing Firm for 24 Hour Ad
BRISBANE, Australia, Sept. 12, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- In what could become the most expensive internet banner advertisement ever, photoblogging site Instagram has just been offered seven figures for just one day of advertising.
Rock Publicity, an Australian marketing firm with clients based around the world, has offered the photo-sharing social networking service $1,000,000 USD if Instagram will agree to host a banner on all pages of the app for 24 hours.
"A million dollars is a huge sum of money for any ad campaign," said Rock Publicity's founder Leon Hill. "It's definitely a gamble, but one we think is worth it to get ourselves in front of the site's user base of more than 150 million people."
Instagram doesn't yet offer any kind of advertising, though company spokespeople say this will change within a year. Rock Publicity is hoping to take advantage of the increased exposure of being the first advertisers ever on the site.
"We've sent a detailed proposal to the company stating our intentions and our offer, all that's left now is to wait for a response," said Hill.
