BOISE, Idaho, July 11, 2011 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- AARP is pleased to announce the newest member of its Idaho state team, J. Winston Inouye, who will serve as Associate State Director for Advocacy. On behalf of Idaho's 180,000 AARP members, Inouye will work in state and federal advocacy and help oversee volunteer efforts across the state.
"Winston is a great addition to the AARP team in the Gem State, his wealth of knowledge in politics, policy, and organizing is a real asset to the work we do on behalf of Idahoans 50 and older," said Jim Wordelman, State Director for AARP in Idaho. "These are challenging times for Idahoans, with policy debates at both the state and national levels impacting their lives, we're looking forward to having Winston help ensure the voice of the 50+ is heard."
A Burley native, Inouye served as Regional Campaign Manager for both of Governor Otter's gubernatorial bids and has also served as member of the Governor's Renewable Fuels Council and the Governor's Regional Advisory Council. Most recently, Inouye served as both the Executive Director of the Mini-Cassia Commerce Authority and as a consultant for Idaho Policy Advisors, where he worked in government affairs. He was also the Executive Director for the Magic Valley Energy Coalition through 2004.
"Idaho is wonderful state, I have lived, worked and served here my entire life," said Inouye. "I look forward to serving the 180,000 members of AARP in Idaho and the 50plus population that contribute so much to the state."
