Ikaria(R) Announces Election of Howard H. Pien to Board of Directors
CLINTON, N.J., April 14 /PRNewswire/ -- Ikaria Holdings, Inc. today announced that Howard H. Pien has been elected as an independent member of the company's board of directors. Mr. Pien, who has more than 25 years of international management experience in the biopharmaceutical sector, also will become a member of Ikaria's compensation committee. Most recently, he was president, CEO and chairman of Medarex, Inc., which was acquired by Bristol-Myers Squibb in 2009.
Mr. Pien currently serves as a director of several companies, including ViroPharma, Inc. and Immunogen. He also is an advisor to Warburg Pincus. Previously, he was president, CEO and chairman of Chiron Corporation, until its acquisition by Novartis in 2006. Mr. Pien also has held senior management positions at GlaxoSmithKline and its predecessor SmithKline Beecham, including the positions of president of its U.S. pharmaceuticals business and president of its international operations.

Mr. Pien holds a BS from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and an MBA from Carnegie-Mellon University.
