PISCATAWAY, N.J., Feb. 23, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- IEEE, the world's largest technical professional organization advancing technology for the benefit of humanity, today announced that Dr. E. James Prendergast, current Executive Director, has elected to retire in early 2018 after almost nine years of service.
Dr. Prendergast joined IEEE as Executive Director in 2009. Following his arrival, IEEE has continued to expand its influence as a trusted voice in technology, impacting a wide range of technical fields, important standards that improve lives, science education at every level, and public policy worldwide. During Jim's tenure, IEEE's global presence and engagement also grew significantly with new offices in Vienna, Austria and Bangalore, India, along with expansions in China, Japan, and Singapore. Working with the Board of Directors, the position is responsible for contributing to the development of IEEE's strategy and for implementing the business plan to operationalize IEEE's strategic direction.
