ID Media Taps Diana Bald As New SVP, Marketing Director
NEW YORK, March 31, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- ID Media, the nation's largest direct response and digital media agency, today announced that it has hired Diana Bald as its new Senior Vice President, Director of Marketing, charged with building out the company's first marketing department.
Bald, who was most recently vice president, business development at Univision, will be the driving force behind ID Media's growth strategy. Based in New York, she will work with ID Media's teams nationwide to boost the company's market-leading edge through new account wins, synergies with clients, media partners and sister agencies, and the development of new, highly accountable media technologies.
Her appointment comes at a time of robust, opportunistic growth for ID Media, an Interpublic Group (NYSE: IPG) agency that's known for its engagement and optimization prowess. A pioneer when it comes to new media technologies, ID Media was the first in the U.S. to tap Unruly Media, the London-based global video distribution network, to optimize reach for a recent digital campaign for super-hot Greek yogurt company Chobani. Recent account wins, too, include LivingSocial.com, the fast-growing online daily deals site.
Diana brings a holistic, integrated understanding of media to the table. A 10-year veteran of Univision, she was handpicked to be in the network's prestigious Executive Development Program from the start. This competitive careers track greatly prepared her for a variety of roles within the organization, from station manager to general manager to her most recent post. Along the way, Bald gained a solid knowledge of multiple media platforms, including digital, broadcast and radio, while honing her P&L, strategic planning and sales and marketing skills. Prior to joining Univision, Diana held information technology project management roles at the law firms Munger, Tolles & Olson and Rutan & Tucker. Diana, who earned her MBA from the University of Southern California's Marshall School of Business, is also a magna cum laude graduate of the University of Redlands in Redlands, Calif., where she majored in computer information sciences.
"Diana's skill set is where media and technology meet. That's exactly ID Media's sweet spot. We're thrilled to have her as part of our team," said Lynn Fantom, CEO of ID Media.
For her part, Bald said ID Media's competitive edge attracted her to the organization. "ID Media is the leader in its field for a reason. The company maintains an exceptional culture of commitment to accountability and insightful thought leadership in the industry. Furthermore, optimization runs through the entire organization's DNA," she said.
At Univision, Bald was the architect behind the network's first Spanish language local newscast in Philadelphia in 2008. The Latino GREAT Jobs Program, a multicultural sales and marketing program she developed for General Motors, ended up being so successful that it was later replicated in several regions.
An advocate of diversity initiatives, Diana is also highly active in the community. Impacto Latin Newspaper and the Philadelphia Multicultural Affairs Congress dubbed her one of its "10 Under 40 Influential Latinos" in 2006. The Philadelphia Business Journal also honored Bald as one of its "40 Under 40" that same year and as one of its "Women of Distinction" in 2008.
Bald also holds leadership roles in the advertising sector, having served as a past chair and president of the Philadelphia Ad Club. And, she is currently a board director for the Advertising Women of New York. She has also taught advertising classes at Temple University, is fully bilingual in English and Spanish and is presently learning Mandarin.
